Welcome to my website. First, as all web sites this is a "work in progress". Since I'm a one man shop I do my best to keep up with everything but sometimes things get a little behind. Check the News / Updates page for latest changes. I hope this will be interesting as well as informative. It is my vision of instruments, products and other projects I decide to include here. A continuation of a dream started 32 years ago. A dream that started in my home of Los Angeles, as I worked different countries around the world, and now settled in the historic Upstate New York area. An area of inspiration, and support to all the Artisans that have come before me.
Company ProfileThe workshop is 3,000 square feet with a lot of charm, character and inspiration. Built in the Historic Harmony Mills of Cohoes, NY, "The Mills" have been under going restoration and is now a registered Historic Landmark. de Erro Guitars is a natural extension of what "The Mills" were intended to be; providing a product that would be recognized around the world for its quality and beauty. With each guitar crafted, a continuation of those ideals and dreams which began over 150 years ago.
Martin's ProfileBorn and raised in Los Angeles, California; Martin was fortunate enough to be in the center of the guitar building universe. Starting at a well known music shop in "The Valley", he became the General Manager within a few years. During his tenure, the store grew into a network of three retail stores world wide: Los Angeles, California; Cologne, Germany; Guadalajara, Mexico. A workshop finally sprang from the retail store and began creating some of the finest instruments of the 80's and 90's. Near the beginning of his career, Martin studied with Jack Wilock, the head of Gibson warranty repair in the 1930’s. Studying for 3 years, he helped to launch a repair shop that grew to 12 repairman. The shop began to craft guitars and a new location had to be found. At this time we opened the workshop in North Hollywood and maintained both a repair and building. He then began to build many of the "guitar audio racks" the studio and live musicians were using in Los Angeles during the 80's and early 90's. Giving him an even deeper understanding of what a guitar player needs and wants from his instrument. In 1992 Martin left and formed his international representation firm, WORLD ARTS that represented some of the great names in the Pro Audio and Musical Instrument fields. WORLD ARTS grew into consultation, instrument repair and hand crafting instruments. de Erro Guitars was formed in 2004.
